Continuing Backyard Adventures

Some days we get out to the great nature trails, we explore great spaces, and we explore new places, soaking in the beauty of the environment and rejuvenating our spirits. The days in between we spend our afternoons in our own yard, enjoying the simple pleasures of home and nature combined. This month we picked up our second round of breakfast makers. Today we brought them outside for the second time. They were so timid at first, adjusting to the new sounds and sights around them. The kids were very excited in awe to watch as our little friends explored their space, their eyes wide with joy and wonder. They weren’t afraid of the cat or the dog when they came over to say hello, and it was heartwarming to see them all interact. But our tortoise, Mr. Snuggles! He suddenly wandered into view, causing quite a stir among the little ones. They freaked out, laughing and squealing, and we had to round them all back up again.

That was it! That was my great unplanned outside activity for today, and it turned into a delightful adventure. The Wildettes (my 5, 2, and 9-month) made a new activity! Wash the dog! They loved it, splashing water playfully and giggling with glee. The dog loves the attention and soaked up every moment, creating a joyful scene under the warm sun. WIN-WIN.

This is to encourage you to try and go outside for a short amount of time every day! It doesn’t need to be picture perfect! You don’t have to come up with a great activity. Unplanned, unstructured activities outside are just as important, if not more so!

Short post today– But I NEED help naming these little breakfast makers.
